Privacy Policy

What Nodtify does

Nodtify is a gesture-triggered notification shade app. When you nod your phone forward and back, it opens the notification shade — the same action as swiping down from the top of your screen. The app also provides optional vibration feedback on each successful nod; this vibration fires even if your device's touch vibration is turned off in system settings, because it is delivered as an intentional app action rather than a touch haptic.

Accessibility Service usage

Nodtify requires Android's Accessibility Service for exactly two purposes:

• Foreground app detection — identifies which app is currently on screen so nod triggering can be disabled for apps you choose to exclude.
• Open notification shade — triggers the GLOBAL_ACTION_NOTIFICATIONS system action or dispatches a simulated downward swipe gesture (e.g., when the device is locked and system actions are restricted), identical to swiping down from the top of your screen.

Nodtify does not read screen content, record keystrokes, observe UI elements, or access any personal information through this permission. Nothing is collected or transmitted off your device.

Sensor data

Nodtify reads your device's gyroscope at high sampling rate in real time to detect nod gestures. The HIGH_SAMPLING_RATE_SENSORS permission is required for accurate, low-latency gesture detection. This sensor data is processed entirely on-device and is never stored or transmitted anywhere.

Battery Optimization

Nodtify requests the REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS permission to ensure that the background gesture detection service remains active and responsive when the screen is on. This setting is used solely to prevent the Android system from killing the gesture service, and does not collect or transmit any data.

Data we do not collect

• No personal information
• No location data
• No contacts, messages, or media
• No usage analytics or crash reports
• No advertising identifiers
• No data is ever sent to any server

Local storage

Nodtify stores your preferences (sensitivity, vibration, excluded apps, and a local nod count) in the app's private storage on your device. This data never leaves your device.

Internet access

Nodtify does not request the INTERNET permission and has no network access of any kind.

Children's privacy

Nodtify does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13. The app complies with COPPA and GDPR requirements by design — there is simply no data collection.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
